I now wish I'd have spent the extra cash and boughtten a greater product. After numerous strives, you get completely different readings for studs and the AC sensor went off continuously. Apparently my whole house is filled with wires from ceiling to ground.(note sarcasm) Better off making an try better high quality.

Sometimes it shows the brinks of a stud as being 6" vast (instead of ~1 1/2"). Sometimes it finds a stud but misses the one 16" next to it. Recalibrate and it'll do the reverse or something totally different. I think should you take the average of 5 trys to locate the heart of a stud, you will have a reasonable probability of finding the heart of a stud.

Other objects in a wall any suchs pipes, wires, heating ducts, blocking off, foil faced insulation can impact the readings given by way of a stud in findinger. But having built the wall myself, I knew it had not one in each of these in the house that I was once engaged on.
